Proud D Foods - Jalapeno Jelly

We recently tried a new jalapeno jelly product from Proud Pepper Jelly Co. Jalapeno Jelly, Proud D Foods, and loved it so much we thought we'd include our formal "kudos" right here for you. The jalapeno pepepr jelly is very sweet and tangy, yet provides enough of a mild kick to give spice lovers what they crave.

Proud D Foods - Jalapeno Jelly

My First impression

Nice label. Professionally designed. I find this important, and first impressions are often lasting. It's a good sized jar so I figured I'd have plenty to work with and plenty of recipes to try, so I was ready to dig in.

Appearance/Smell/Taste

Very sweet, very tangy and inviting. It smelled delicious. My mouth watered immediately after opening the jar. We have a predisposition for jelly AND for jalapenos (obviously). On first taste, it was very satisfying. Sweet, yet not too sweet. The texture was quite smooth.

This is not a hot and spicy jelly. There might be a very mild jalapeno kick in there somewhere, but our tastebuds are more used to direct jalapenos. That said, you'll probably notice a bit of spice, but not much. Still, the taste alone makes up for the lack of heat.

The Meal

We tried the jelly spread over a burger. Very simple and something we've never tried before. We also spread it over baked salmon along with some additional minced jalapenos for added kick. Then we used it as a dip for fondue, but then the jar was empty. We'll have to order some more. This product is highly recommended by Jalapeno Madness. Check it out, and let them know Jalapeno Madness sent ya!
